A classroom 4 the future
My name is Lindsay Moran and I am one of the ten lucky teachers chosen by the St. Clair County RESA to receive a $20,000 grant along with extensive professional development in order to completely remodel my classroom furniture to enhance my instruction.
You can follow the entire training process of all of the teachers that are part of the program here.
The Times Herald has also shown a lot of interest and support for us throughout the process. Here are some links to the articles and profile features they have published about our process.

A Little Bit About Me
I have been teaching math for ten years, nine with the Port Huron Area School District at Port Huron High School. I have taught every level of math offered in the high school, but this school year I am teaching a 9th grade math intervention course and also Algebra 2 which consists of 10th and 11th grade students.
I love Port Huron High School, I myself am an alumni. Once a Big Red, always a Big Red! It is a blessing to be in the high school I once attended, finding a way to give back to our community by working with young adults. My relationships with students are the biggest blessing about the teaching profession, and having the ability to know them is truly humbling. My husband is also a teacher in the PHASD. He teaches Elementary Physical Education and has been coaching football at PHHS for eleven years. We have a nine year old Jack Russell named Rocky that we treat like our child. In my spare time I like to do home improvements, socialize with family and friends, travel, and play logic and puzzle games. |

Why do i need to redesign my classroom?
I am interested in a classroom redesign because it will help me improve my teaching to better suit the needs of 21st century students. In order to prepare today's students with the skills to make them marketable to employers, they need to be effective problems solvers and know how to collaborate with others to achieve a common goal. The ability to persevere and problem solve is a trait that Mathematics builds within students that is transferable to any field. As a teacher I want to focus my instruction to enhance those skills with my lessons. My current classroom furniture is not convenient or conducive to the type of learning environment I am striving to create. I need the help of the furniture in order to improve myself to better serve my students.
