OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT
WOW!! Look at all of these ideas that I have and adjustments I have to make in order to make sure the transition to new furniture goes smoothly! The new layout and options are going to affect our procedures on many day to day tasks. Simple questions like "Where do I find the paper now?" And more complex ones like "Can I pick my own seat and how many people can I sit with, and how will I know?" all need to be addressed. This takes a lot of planning and will also require a LOT of trial and error to test out what works best for us. It is going to be a fun spring!
priority procedures
With all of the changes that are necessary to make, I needed to prioritize things to focus on right away. We filled out several "Priority Procedure Maps" to help guide us through the process of planning out the details of some of my most important procedures. The most complex and also most important procedure was communicating how and when students would be free to choose their seating arrangement and finding the most efficient and effective way of allowing them to manipulate furniture to their desired arrangement and still make sure that learning was the focus. Organizing our thoughts in this way really helped me make an effective plan and stick to it. I was just so overwhelmed and had no idea where to start. By keeping these nearby, I can always turn to them to remind myself what I'm supposed to be doing (some days it's hard to remember!) and make any adjustments that I find necessary as this process continues.
